Eleven of Stortford's best paddlers went up to the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, to take part in May's National Sprint Regatta, which was also the Masters National & Open Championships. Toby Booth (pictured, receiving his certificate from Pete Moule the Chair of the Sprint Committee) did exceptionally well, winning every race that he entered. He was overall winner in K1 MiniSprint A 500m (3:03.66), and partnered paddlers from Lincoln CC for K2 500m (2:46.13), and K4 MiniSprint A/B 500m (2:36.96). Other highlights included a 1st for Heidi White in Girls D K1 500m (2:43.70), and two silvers for Laura Warbrick paddling in Womens D K1 500m (2:35.15) and 200m (59.60). Heidi has been promoted to Girls C, and Laura to Womens C - well done to both! Paul Surrage partnered Mel Bennett in the Men's Over-54 1000m K2 race to 3rd place (5:43:08) and a Championship Bronze medal. The official results are online. |
