Cambridge Winter Series Marathon (5 Dec 2021)

A team comprised mainly of juniors travelled to Cambridge for the second of this seasons Winter Series races. None of the other clubs brought any u12s so Stortford made a clean sweep of all the medals in this class and are also leading in the Bob Porter trophy, which is awarded to the club with the most u12s entries across the series.

Many of BSCC's junior competitors are currently unranked, which also meant that the club was again the winner in terms of Dick Grieve points, and is now leading the table for the Dick Grieve league (based on the performance of unranked juniors).

Adam was again in a photo-finish with Chelmsford's Tim Gannicott Porter, but on this occassion had to settle for the silver medal. Kerstin again partnered Catherine Ayling to take the medals for first lady crew in the senior K2 race.

Petr also put in a notable performance in the Vets race, which had the usual large field with many highly experienced racers.

Overall, Stortford were third behind Chelmsford CC and Cambridge CC, placing us now in second place in the Winter Series league with two more races to go. See the league table here.
