Norwich Hasler (21 May 2017)

26/5/2017

Especially well done to Emilia, Neil, Jess and Kaitie, who have all been promoted.
There were some spectacular results from our team at Norwich. Emilia won Div 8 on her first outing in that class, as did new member Neil in Div 9. Neil only took up the sport 9 months ago at the age of 54!
But it was the doubles crews who made this a turn-around moment in the series for Stortford. Octavia won Div 5 doubles with Nottingham CC's Tim Beaver, Little Joe and Matt took an impressive second place in a tightly-fought contest in Div 2 doubles, and there were medals in Div 4 doubles for Chris & Ricky (silver) and for David G & Isabelle (bronze), as well as bronzes for Jacque & Dave in Div 8 doubles.

All these great individual results brought Stortford a good second place overall against a strong contingent from hosts Norwich CC. It was a whole-team success, with just one point putting us ahead of Cambridge CC - yours perhaps?
This result still leaves us in 5th position in the Eastern Region League, but only a tantilising one point off 4th. We now just need to put in some top-class performances in the two remaining races of this season, at Leighton Buzzard in June and then our home race on 9th July, to earn our place in the Hasler Finals at Richmond in September.
Can we do it? - of course we can!
There was success for the Lightnings too - Eilidh won u12 girls, and our youngest racer Gemma continued the Beazley family's fine heritage in canoeing with a well deserved third in the u10 girls.
